  • The method of treatment of any collection of water directed toward the prevention of breeding of mosquitoes shall be approved by the health officer and may be any one or more of the following:

    (1)

    Screening with wire netting of at least 16 meshes to the inch each way, or with cloth, in such a manner that mosquitoes cannot gain entrance or exit.

    (2)

    Complete emptying, at least every seven days, of unscreened containers, in such a way as to leave no larvae or pupae in the containers.

    (3)

    Stocking with fish, preferably the top minnow, bambusia, in receptacles in which such fish will live.

    (4)

    Using an effective larvicide (one to 200 washing soda or borax, creosote or cresylic acid and soap, etc.).

    (5)

    Applying kerosene or other oil which will spread and adequately cover the surface.

    (6)

    Repairing plumbing fixtures and the like to prevent the water from collecting or adequately draining or filling in.

    (7)

    Removal or destruction of unnecessary water holding containers.

    (8)

    Filling in excavations and depressions with dirt or some suitable substance to even grade with surrounding property or premises, and draining by means of ditches and drains or culverts leading to the street where the street is paved, or leading to a gutter or ditch where the street is unpaved.
