§ 34-226. Grease pumping trucks.

  • (a)

    The cleaning of a grease trap may be achieved by utilizing a separator truck or by a suction (pumper) truck. To clean the trap the truck operator shall completely evacuate the grease trap and scrape the walls of the trap to remove particles adhering to the surface. The oil and grease value of the re-introduced gray water by the separator truck shall be 100 mg/l or less.

    (b)

    Introduction of waste or wastewater into the city wastewater system which originates outside of the county shall be prohibited.

    (c)

    All manifests shall be sent to the city's building official.

    (d)

    Separator trucks shall be required to obtain the following:

    (1)

    A permit from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality allowing the truck to be used as a separator truck for the pumping out of grease traps.

    (2)

    Before discharge of gray water into the sanitary sewer, each separator truck shall undergo and pass the permitting process of the city.

    (e)

    The separator truck shall provide a sampling site which will allow a representative sample of the gray water prior to discharge into the sanitary sewer.

    (f)

    The minimum sampling frequency shall be once per month. All samples taken and analysis performed will be done in accordance with Standard Methods, the 19 th Edition Method 5520 B., or EPA Method 413.1 or EPA Method 1664. All laboratory results will be accompanied by QA/QC results and a chain of custody. The city reserves the right to sample each separator truck on an unscheduled and random basis.

    (g)

    Suction (pumper) trucks shall completely evacuate the grease trap leaving minimal solids adhering to the trap's sides. The entire content of the trap, gray water and solids, will be disposed of at an approved disposal area.
